We are behind with our news posts, but like to share what we do on here also. Last year BHPT were proud to give the Red Kites Walking Football team a grant to get some new equipment and bibs. The team have been established for a few years, but went completely independent after covid. We love to see groups in the community who tick our wellbeing boxes.
There are many benefits to walking football, not just the exercise! It enables you to continue your love of football, but at a slower pace. It is non physical and suitable for men over 50 and woman of any age. Sometimes in the school holidays they even bring the kids/grandchildren.
This group has great camaraderie and there is an opportunity for a coffee and a chat after each game. The Red Kites are all welcoming, friendly and told me how much they enjoy being part of the team and how it had helped them socialise or improve their fitness.
And if you think you are too old for Walking Football think again, their oldest player so far is 73! Of course if you have any concerns if it is something you should be doing then always ask your Dr, but we say give it a try! Come along on the days/times below and see what it’s all about.
Days and times: Tuesdays kick off 11am-12noon
