Burnham Community Shed Update

What was formerly known as Men's Sheds, and is now Burnham Community Shed, will always hold a space close to my heart.
I spent many a time 'helping' my grandad in his shed growing up. Watching him potter about and make all kinds of things, from dolls houses to a fire truck for my brother or a steam engine.
When we helped to set this group up I always jumped at the chance to be involved. From the first small, empty shed to see what it has now flourished in to, just fills me with joy.
It really is an amazing group, I am lucky enough to know some of the members and have been invited to events and they are always so very welcoming.

An update from the group:

Burnham Community Shed was set up in June 2019 and known as Burnham Men’s Shed. It was the Burnham branch of the UK Men’s Shed Association. It was set up as a community space for Shed members to connect, converse and create. Their activities are often similar to those of garden sheds, but members share practical skills, knowledge, experience and Shed resources and enjoy them together.

Their regular meetings and practical project sessions in the Shed, garden and in the community, help reduce loneliness and isolation, but most importantly, they’re fun. Burnham Shed is now known as Burnham Community Shed and they welcome women to share equally in all activities.

The group run project sessions in the Shed and Garden space every Monday and Friday of each week from 10am - 12 noon. On the 2nd & 4th Fridays of the month they meet in the clubhouse at Burnham Bowls Club, Stomp Road, Burnham. There are some fees to help with the running of the group, but it includes access to the Shed, garden and its resources, use of the tools & materials (when available). The fees are £6 per quarter for membership and £3 per clubhouse session.

Burnham Community Shed has evolved from its original Men’s Shed and has developed into a great group; making and repairing smaller items for sale to boost funds and undertaking commissions and bigger projects in the community.  Go along and visit for tea or coffee and a chat and to meet the members & to see the Shed, Garden and Greenhouse areas. Also look out for the Burnham Community Shed’s stalls at local events!

Men’s Sheds is a worldwide organisation, with hundreds already set up across the UK.
