Our fabulous board of Trustees are very involved with how the trust is run. They help make decisions and brainstorm on proposed, new and current projects & initiatives. Our trustees all bring a wealth of different experience and knowledge to the Trust, they help shape us.
Here's a bit about them all.

Chair of Trustees – Simon Daily

Simon is the Chair of Trustees, he became a trustee in 2013.  He was born in Burnham, went to school here and is now a GP in the village.

He loves his work and his involvement with BHPT. He is interested in triathlon, when he has the time. His father, Dr Bev Daily, was a founder of BHPT and Simon is gladly carrying on in his footsteps to help the community of Burnham.

If he has any time left, he loves to spend it with his family.

Francis Hughes

Francis became a trustee in 2019. He joined Burnham Health Promotion Trust as a representative of the Louis & Valerie Freedman Charitable Settlement, ensuring that BHPT continues to deliver its services in line with the vision set out by the original benefactor. His role includes monitoring the charity’s work, supporting good governance, and helping to maintain the strong link between BHPT and the Settlement.
Chartered Accountant, Francis brings extensive experience from the charitable sector. He is a trustee of two other grant‑making charities, including the Louis & Valerie Freedman Charitable Settlement, giving him a deep understanding of how philanthropic organisations can create long‑term community impact.
Outside his professional commitments, Francis is a keen golfer and enjoys padel as well as watching all sports. Although he does not live in the Burnham area, Francis values his role at BHPT and takes pride in seeing how the charity’s work continues to improve the lives of local residents year after year.

Jaqueline Laver

Jaqueline became a trustee in 2021. She has been in education for over 40 years, 17 as Headteacher. Her current role is as an Education Improvement Adviser in Hillingdon. Jaqueline says 'Since joining the Trust I have seen the amazing work that has been achieved and can be achieved in the future. I want to contribute to the developments in the Burnham Community as I have worked and lived here for such a long time'.

Her spare time is devoted to her four adorable grandsons.

Roy Barrett

Roy became a trustee 2025. He was born in Taplow and has spent most of his life within the Burnham community. For him, being part of Burnham Health Promotion Trust is an opportunity to give something back to the place that shaped him. His role as Trustee allows him to contribute to decisions that strengthen local health and wellbeing provision. Roy’s career has been entirely within the motor industry. In 1993, he founded his own consultancy, providing training, project management and specialist services to motor manufacturers across Europe. Now retired, he brings decades of strategic and operational experience to the Trust.

Beyond BHPT, Roy is actively involved in community and voluntary work. He serves as a Trustee of Maidenhead and Taplow Sea Cadets, volunteers as a Lock Keeper with the Environment Agency at Cookham, and supports the Maidenhead Heritage Centre. His hobbies include watercolour painting. Roy is married with two children - one currently serving in the Navy and the other working for BP.
